Whether you are planning your first trip to Granada, in southern Spain, or you are a regular visitor, you will have plenty of transport options when you arrive.

Granada Airport buses
Bus stops in Granada where visitors can catch buses to the airport are situated at the Exhibition and Conference Centre, Puerta Real, Granada Cathedral, Gran Via, Triunfo, and Caleta before terminating at the airport bus station. Buses run regularly in the opposite direction for visitors who have just arrived by plane. The ticket fare for full journey in either direction is approximately €3.50.

From the Airport to Granada, buses run after the arrival of every plane, and from Granada to the Airport: Monday – Sunday: 05:20, 06:25, 07:45, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00.

Granada Town Buses
Granada´s urban bus network is managed by Transportes Rober Bus Company. Check out: www.lovegranada.com/transport-city-buses/ for bus route maps, fares, timetables, and also for information about local buses to the Alhambra and Albayzin. You can also find information about Granada bus timetables, bus frequencies and the different services and how to purchase tickets.

The main bus station in Granada is located on the outskirts of the city, and it offers tourist information to travellers regarding car hire, places of interest etc., Visitors can take a taxi from here to the main sights and/or purchase tickets for ongoing journeys. The opening hours of the ticket office are: Monday – Sunday: 06:30 to 01:30, 365 days a year. December 25 and January 1: 07:30 to 01:30, 24 and December 31: from 6:30 to 20:00 .

Alhambra Bus provides services which cannot be provided by the Urban Transport Service, and the principal routes serve the Alhambra, Albayzin and Sacromonte, known as the main tourist routes. These buses depart from many stops in the city every 5-7 minutes with the first bus running at 7am and the last departure 23.00 hours. These buses are free for children under 4, and again, fares and more information can be checked out at: www.lovegranada.com/transport-city-buses/

Granada Airport
Granada Airport is situated 16km from the city, 100km from Jaen and 125km from Malaga. The following airlines fly to and from Granada Airport: Air Europa (www.air-europa.es), Ryanair (www.ryanair.com), Easyjet (www.easyjet.com), Iberia (www.iberia.es), Vueling (www.vueling.es), and Servisair (www.servisair.com)

If you are planning to visit Granada, it may be worth checking out flights to Granada Airport and Malaga Airport, as more budget airlines fly into Malaga, and it may be more economical to transfer from there. Transfer time by bus to Malaga is approximately 2 hrs and 20 minutes, and the fare is approximately €10 or you can hire a car at the airport.

Car Hire at Granada Airport
If you want to hire a car when you arrive at Granada Airport, Hertz and Europcar are all situated at the airport. If, however you want to save money and find the best pre-booked deals before you go, and compare prices quickly, without having to trawl through all the different car hire sites by checking out: www.carhire4airports.co.uk.

Granada Taxis
Visitors arriving at Granada Airport can pick up a taxi outside the main terminal, into the city centre, to the Alhambra, the Sierra Nevada, the Alpujarras, Malaga or elsewhere, and up to date prices can be found at: Tele Radio Taxi Granada. Telephone: 958 280 654.

Granada Trains
Granada is well linked to Almeria, Algeciras, Antequera, Guadalajara, Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza and further afield. Some trains also stop in the provincial towns of Loja, Guadix and Moreda. Train tickets can be bought directly at the train station, from travel agents in Granada, who may ask for a small commission or from www.renfe.es.

Most Granada trains run on time but there are occasional lengthy delays. Some online deals offer tickets for up to 40% off normal price.

Granada and Alhambra Parking
Granada is one of the most difficult cities in Andalucia to find free parking. Access to Recojidas, Reyes Catolicos, Elvira Street, Albaicin and Sacromonte, for example are restricted to private traffic, and you are advised to park your car in a private car park, instead of travelling round the city for hours looking for a free space.

Alhambra parking is situated within the Alhambra premises, and cars are monitored 24 hours per day. Five hundred spaces are available and parking rates start at €2.35 for one hour, being reduced to €1.55 for extra hours. Within walking distance of the car park is the Alhambra, Generalife and Carmen de los Martires.

If you are planning to visit Granada, make the most of the history, culture, restaurants and cafés in the Albaicin region of the city, and don´t forget to sample the world famous tapas. Many bars in Granada still serve a free tapa with each drink purchased, and many would agree that this lively city serves the best tapas in southern Spain (except perhaps for the Sevillanos, who claim to have invented the humble tapa hundreds of years ago).

Granada is easily accessible by car, bus, train or plane, and if you plan your visit carefully, you should have nothing else to worry about when you arrive, apart from picking up a tourist map at the airport, and enjoying the sights and sounds of this incredible Andalucian city.

Our tips for a safe and enjoyable trip in the Balaerics, Canaries and beyond

When it comes to delightful island holidays, Spain has long been a popular choice with UK holidaymakers. Requiring little travel, and providing almost instant gratification in the summer months, with sun sea and sand on tap, as well as lovely seafood and cold beer, it ticks the boxes with families, couples and young friends.

We’ve decided to take an island focus this week and have a look at gorgeous off-shore options available from low-cost holiday experts On The Beach, from holidays in Menorca to beach bars in Ibiza, to watersports in Tenerife.
For a real partygoer’s island dream, you’ll have to go to Ibiza. Classic beach bars like El Chiringuito in Es Cavallet are must sees, and excellent spots to start a night (or end a massive one!).

Filling up with hundreds of thousands of visitors in the summer months, this Balaeric island – easily reached by ferry from the Valencian mainland, or flown direct – is very popular with younger crowds.

If Ibiza is your destination of choice, be really careful with basics like valuables – you don’t want your best party experience ruined by the loss or theft of your wallet, passport or watch. Like anywhere with large influxes of people, be vigilant and make sure you have a safe. Don’t keep all your valuables in one place together.

For fans of the Canaries, we recommend Tenerife for its excellent watersports. Located close to the tip of Africa, the Canaries enjoy greater swells than their Balaeric counterparts, and like the coast of Morocco, you’ll find better surfing, windsurfing and sailing opportunities down here.

Just remember to take is slowly if you’re new; thankfully most busy beaches have dedicated watersports schools and will guide you through the need-to-know areas.

For elder holidaymakers, the gorgeous Isla Canela, conjoined with Ayamonte in Andalucia, the south of the country, is not necessarily an island, but it’s a worthy location for anyone keen on golfing, sand dunes and a gentle pace of life.
Our pick of the best Spanish party holidays

Attracting millions of tourists annually, and with a reputation for particularly zealous UK party-makers making the hop across the ocean, Spain is one fun country in which to have a holiday.

Whilst the country goes through one of the toughest economic tests of its history – labelled ‘the new Greece’ last week by the Independent newspaper – Spanish tourism nevertheless appears to be healthy and well.

With the firm favourites like Ibiza holidays from the likes of On The Beach still going strong for revellers, alongside alternative party locations and dates, its’ an excellent place to head in the summer for a taste of superclubs, or local fería (festival). Here’s our top three dates and places:

Barcelona Beach Party by iamdonte on flickr

June: Barcelona
The Catalan capital has long been one of Spain’s biggest draws – its long history of resistance to the state, its openness to visitors and new communities and its distinct culture and language have served as a haven for immigrants and artists alike. And it has some very distinctive traditions of its own. June has the two which are the most ‘Barcelona’, old and new. From 14-16 June is Sonar, one of the world’s greatest music festivals. Then of Sunday 24th June is Sant Joan, the city’s biggest party, where bonfires and fireworks are lit constantly, the whole town floods to the beach to leap the bonfires and party til lunchtime…it’s the only night of the year you can legally sleep on Barcelona’s beaches, so make the most of it.

July: Ibiza
It seems that anytime in the summer is a good time to go to Ibiza, but July is a great month to combine partying with a bit of a VIP lifestyle too – August is way too rammed with revellers and June is just a bit quieter. In July, you’ll get some of the biggest names, especially towards the end of the month, plus ongoing parties like Ibiza Rocks, playing host to stars such as Kasabian, Mark Ronson and Example in July.

August: Valencia
The Valencia area is the only place to be in August, for the mind-bending tomato-throwing day La Tomatina, which takes place on the last Wednesday of every August during the week of festival in the small town of Buñol. Come, wear something white that you’ll never need again, and get into the most exhilarating foodfight of your life. Way better than clubbing – and the perfect antidote if you’re all danced out!

Article Content:
There are lots of fantastic volunteer opportunities across the world, from India to Africa or Peru. Not only do you help make a difference to the place you visit, but it can also be a life-changing experience for all that take part.

There are literally hundreds of volunteer work abroad programmes and opportunities, depending on what it is that you want to do. For anybody looking to volunteer to work abroad, this is the perfect chance to discover different cultures and places, make some new friends and share your knowledge and skills for the benefit of others.

There are costs associated with volunteering abroad and these should be factored into your trip. Even when you enter a volunteer programme with free or nominally priced opportunities, you will probably have to find money for your accommodation, food and possibly transport depending on where the opportunity is based. Free usually means your time there is free of charge, though there are a few projects willing to fund accommodation and food.

If you opt to volunteer in this way for free then it is important to be realistic about what is involved. Free projects often have little or no organisation and you may be given one instruction, for example, ‘teach English to this group of children’ and then left to do it. You may be given little guidance and come across cultural and language barriers with no help to overcome these. The advantages, though, are that you can make a difference and get a unique insight into the culture.

There are so many projects to choose from when it comes to volunteer work abroad. Choosing to support a cause really depends on your own interests and what you feel passionate about. It may be that you have seen the plight of other less fortunate people on the television or internet and wish to help. It could be that you have been affected by a certain issue and want to help other people deal with the same problems. Or it may be that you are already doing this type of work in the UK and want to use your skills to help less fortunate. Whatever your reasons for volunteering abroad, it is about being part of something bigger than just working in another country.

Volunteering to work abroad can range from one week away giving your time for free to a full gap year and even extend this to two years abroad. There are more than 35 countries where volunteer work can be undertaken in South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

If you choose to opt for a paid volunteer programme then you are guaranteed to get the right support and guidance in a much more organised manner. Some of these programmes may include sightseeing tours alongside the volunteer work to allow you to travel as a tourist and see the country you are working in. There may also be opportunities to develop existing skills and learn new ones as well as possibly getting new qualifications.

Volunteering work can be environmental, which covers wildlife, marine-conservation and climate-change projects. There are also infrastructure jobs in construction and healthcare projects and also teaching roles to help people who wish to learn English, along with sports projects and assisting children to learn or acquire new life skills.

Article Content:
When you are into martial arts and are studying Jiu jitsu then you will most definitely be in need of a gi. If you have been following martial arts you have surely seen different uniforms, and for Jiu jitsu it is known as a gi. You will find that a jiu jitsu gi is unlike the other uniforms from other martial arts because it can be worn in different colors and in varying styles. But before you go and buy every color that you can get your hands on, it would be better if you were to buy one in white or blue as these are regulation colors. You can wear yellow or red and even purple when you are practicing but you cannot use these colors during competitions, so, you may want to talk to your trainer to make sure that you buy the right garments. You may also want to ask how much gis cost so that you can budget accordingly. If it is a kid that you want to buy a uniform for, you can perhaps find one that is cheaper since the uniform will become too small as he or she grows. This is because you may end up spending a lot of money on a new Jiu jitsu gi every month to find bigger uniforms.

Aside from the different styles and colors, a Jiu jitsu gi may also come in single weave or double weave styles. If you have an interest in Judo, then you will have to look into buying a judo gi as well. Incidentally, these also come in double weave and single weave fabrics. The double weave is thicker and works better in colder climates, but it does tend to hamper your movements. A single weave uniform is cooler on the skin and allows for easier movement, but the fabric wears out faster than the double weave.

On that note, when it comes to shopping and buying gis, you need to make sure that you have plenty of choices. Going online may be your best bet but you also want to make sure that you buy from sellers that have a reputation for selling quality products at good prices. There are websites like http://www.martialartsequipmentdirect.com that you can visit if you want to take a look at products that are used for martial arts. It is very important to visit trusted websites so that you know you are getting good quality items with your money. Spend some time comparing websites and products for you to choose the best gis that are suitable to your budget and tastes.

If you are planning to travel by bus in Andalucia, you can benefit from some excellent transport links between the main cities of Malaga, Seville and Cordoba, and between the Costa del Sol towns of Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona.

Automóviles Portillo S.A., a name which Portillo y Cía S.L. took in 1972, has its roots in the first administrative contract for passenger road transport between Málaga and La Línea de la Concepción, which was granted in 1922 to its founder, Juan de Dios Portillo. After being incorporated into CTSA in 2001, it became known as CTSA-Portillo. In November 2007, it became part of the Avanza Group.

Currently, CTSA – Portillo operates the following facilities:

Getting ready for that big relocation to England? According to the experts, once you know that you will be traveling overseas, planning and organizing should begin immediately. While the prospect of moving to Europe is exciting to most folks, the fact is that even a local move requires a lot of work, which is magnified for an international relocation. There are zillions of small details to take care of and many of them require pre-thought and careful planning.

Begin by doing some research or asking around for names of overseas shipping companies, such as nyshipping.com, to get a free shipping quote. It is best to get at least three separate quotes, to compare the services and any special deals offered by the shipping firms, and to ask each company to provide references who can vouch for their work and professionalism. Nowadays, the pros will not only transport your belongings from point A to point B, but they will also come to your house to help you pack, box, and label, so be sure to take full advantage of their expertise. If you are a family with children relocating to the UK, give each child an appropriate task or checklist of things to do so that they feel included in the process and begin to get excited about the big move.

In all likelihood, container shipping to England is the method which will be recommended to transport your household goods, appliances, luggage, sports equipment, and furniture overseas. The way it works is that you pay a flat fee for a container of a certain size, which you select depending on the size of your load. Whatever you can fit into the container gets to go. What you have to keep in mind, however, which is yet another reason to begin planning your move to England as soon as possible, is that containers are shipped by boat (also called freight), which is the slowest mode of transportation and which can take several months to reach their overseas destination. There are also express shipping options these days and regular air shipping, however these are more expensive and not applicable for shipping large, bulky, or very heavy items.

Of course, you will need to have all your official paperwork and documentation on hand and up-to-date. Additional requirements are a valid passport for all of-age family members, an original marriage license, and a critical document called a bill of lading. Without this latter document, which outlines the terms of your move and provides details about what you are shipping, your cargo could face major delays at the border or be turned away altogether. The bill of lading is also important should any loss or damage to your belongings occur, so make sure the list of your items is accurate and complete or you may not be able to file a claim later on.

Of course, there is a lot to look forward to when you arrive in England – from Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and red double-decker buses in London, to the gorgeous English countryside, to coastal beaches, and so much more. So start planning your relocation to England today and have a safe trip!

The sun, sea and sangria of Andalucia attracts thousands of holiday makers every year, whether it’s to the beaches of the Costa del Sol or the protected natural reserves of the Costa de la Luz. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas in the world so it is vitally important that you make the most of your every minute in the Andalucian area.

Below are three ways in which you can ensure your summer getaway to Andalucia is a success from start to finish.

Enjoy the Sunshine!

Renowned for enjoying sunshine practically all year round, it is no surprise that Andalucia is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. Wherever you are in the region, sunshine is practically a given and it is no secret that a holiday can be that little bit more enjoyable if you can almost guarantee wall to wall sunshine on every day of your break.

Not to put a dampener on your excitement for the sun, however it is important that you look after yourself and don’t spend too much time exposed to strong sunlight during the course of the day. Remember sun cream with a high UV protection level and aftersun lotion to ease the pain should you suffer from sunburn. Furthermore, it is always advisable to try and find a spot of shade around the middle of the day when the sun is at its strongest before hitting the beach or pool side again in the afternoon for a spot of rest and relaxation.

Explore the Area

Andalucia is blessed with beautiful sights, sounds and scenery, so if you get to explore the area you are staying in, it is highly advisable that you do so. Whilst the main tourist areas are blessed with shops, restaurants and bars, heading off the beaten track can result in you falling upon some of the very best views this part of the world has to offer.

Whether you are visiting the major historical cities, the traditional villages or the Costas, exploring the area will certainly add a different element to your stay, and even if you usually spend your time by the pool, taking one day out of your trip to look around where you are staying will definitely be worth it.

Protect Yourself

Although this is the last thing you want to think about when on your holiday, wherever you are located in the region, there is always the possibility of you falling ill or suffering an accident. Whilst there may not be much you can do about this whilst you are away, travel insurance is a must to ensure you are protected from the results.

In a 2011 study by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), it was found that 15% of British holiday makers travelled abroad without insurance. Although the area is stunning and the scenery picturesque, your whole trip to Andalucia could soon turn sour as the cost of medical treatment to ease your ailment quickly escalates.

Andalucia is a beautiful part of Spain with a catalogue of fantastic qualities. By taking on board these three top tips, your holiday to the area is sure to be one that you will remember and look back on fondly for years to come.

This guest post was written by John Rooney on behalf of Debenhams travel insurance, providers of flexible yet comprehensive travel insurance.
Picking the proper 2D1N Mount Kinabalu package is an important stage into making your retreat a really pleasant one. In the event you happen to be considering a visit to Malaysia or touring the area of Borneo, you definitely intend to make the most from the getaway. Planning ahead will guarantee you will get to view anything and everything and achieve all that you possibly can during the brief time which you have.

First, we have to examine the map to check out where Mt Kinabalu is actually. If you search your atlas, firstly you must determine the island of Borneo. You will then discover the area of Sabah, at the western coastline. The highest tip around is Mt Kinabalu, based in the eye-catching Kinabalu National Park. To make sure you get the best experiences feasible when climbing the mountain, you should get a Mt Kinabalu Package deal. The most frequent option is a “3 Days and 2 Nights” package deal. This way, you will get to experience a bit of the national park and take it easy as a substitute for quickly rushing up and down the mountain.

When deciding on a Mt Kinabalu Package deal, make certain it’ll deliver not less than the examples below:

-> Transport from your own hotel in Kota Kinabalu to the Kinabalu hq and back again-> Park entrance cost included, together with hiking permit-> A required mountain guide, that can speak The English language-> Insurance coverage, which can be very important, due to the fact you’re going trekking-> Transfers from the Mesilau or Timpohon gate to the hq and back again-> Eight meals for your three days and a couple nights of your excursion-> Two nights accommodations, one of which will be at Laban Rata, where you’ll be able to begin the scale to the tip early in the daybreak

A regular Mt Kinabalu Package deal ought to have a clear and set schedule, looking something like this:

-> Day 1: accommodation pick-up and transport towards national park, where you will be able to experience a piece inside the park as well as its botanical garden. You will get lunch and dinner this day.-> Day 2: your morning meal, and then shuttle transport to 1 of the gates, in accordance with which hiking trail you end up picking. Commence the climb with a packed lunch, and then have whole evening meal in the Laban Rata hotel, where you will stay the night. Through the hike itself, you’ll want to be able to rest nearly every km.-> Day 3: it should commence really early on; you commence the final 2.5 km of this accent to capture the sun rising on the top of the mountain. Next you retreat to the shelter for your morning meal after which you can descent to the gate. Once returning at the hq, you will get your final dinner and are usually transported back again to your motel inside of the town of Kota Kinabalu.

Keep in mind you should have excellent mountaineering footwear, trekking footwear that are worn in, together with a flashlight for the early morning trek to the peak and also a reliable windproof jacket, for that cold early morning and evening wind. Other than that, bring your great state of mind and digital slr and the 3D/2N Mt kinabalu package will take care of everything else.
