The Canaries are the seven Spanish owned islands located in the Atlantic just off the coast of Africa. Each boasting it´s own unique identity and character. With Lanzarote – at the eastern end of the chain – regarded as one of the more unspoiled islands.
The Canaries enjoy a clement climate even in the depths of winter and are especially popular with holidaymakers from the UK ad Germany. Offering reliable winter sun at affordable prices.
On Lanzarote there are three main tourist resorts for visitors to choose from; Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise. Each offering a good selection of accommodation options, encompassing everything from studio apartments through to five star hotels.
Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is the furthest resort from the airport at Arrecife – and is located at the southern tip of the island. A location which tends to guarantee the best of the weather that Lanzarote has to offer – especially during the winter months.
This is also where visitors will find the biggest range of Lanzarote holiday villas to choose from. With prices starting from around £500 per week for a standard two bedroom villa with private pool.
As well as great weather Playa Blanca offers loads for visitors to do and see. Including boat trips to the beautiful beaches at Papagayo and a regular ferry service to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura.
Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen is the largest resort on the island and is located just a short transfer from the airport. Boasting the biggest choice of Lanzarote holiday apartments on the island.
€16 million has just been pumped into Puerto del Carmen in order to improve the tourist infrastructure. Money which has been used to upgrade the main seafront promenade and create a new marina in the Old Town harbour area.
Costa Teguise
Costa Teguise is great for anyone planning to visit Lanzarote´s main tourist attractions. As these are all located within a twenty minute drive. Enabling visitors toe explore the creations of César Manrique such as the Jameos del Agua and the Mirador del Rio with ease.
