If you enjoy eating out, and you are a meat lover, you won´t fail to be impressed with the excellent choice of Argentinian steak restaurants to choose from on the Costa del Sol.
Cortijo de la Herradura is situated 3km up the Coin Road from Fuengirola (inland from Mcdonald´s/Aquapark roundabout), and is one of the best finds in recent years. Situated on the right hand side, just past Aldi, opposite the garden centre, this local ranch-style restaurants offers superb meat and steaks, served on a mini-barbecue at the table, excellent Argentinian wines and probably the best service you will find anywhere. You will not find more friendly and accommodating staff anywhere, and the range of tapas and light bites served in the bar are perfect for a quick snack. The restaurant is decorated tastefully in dark wood, and the high ceilings, and thatched roof of the bar area, give this fabulous restaurant a unique ambience. Live music at the weekends make this the perfect place to join friends and family, or to enjoy a romantic meal for two.
Highly recommended are the home made Argentinian pastries, with chicken, ham and cheese or mince beef for €2 a throw (great if you only want a snack), the rib eye steak, cooked to perfection on the barbecue, and the aubergines with honey. If you are having a bite to eat in the bar, try the revuelto con esparragos, or scrambled eggs with asparagus … delicious.
There is ample free parking at the restaurant, and you can get more information or make a booking at www.elcortijolaherradura.com
Querencia Restaurant is situated in the Old Town of Marbella, and this superb eaterie is an Argentinian grill with Andalucian patio, and excellent food. The ´Criollo´ sausage is home made, and the meat is tender and delicious. If you fancy something different, try the stuffed pasta or grilled roasted vegetables. We often find that our vegetarian friends are put off if we mention Argentinian restaurants, as they assume it is an ´all meat´ menu, but at the Querencia, you get plenty of non- meat choice. The Iberian pork loin is also delicious, as an alternative to the steaks. Querencia also offers a wide selection of Argentine wines, including those from Mendoza, one of the world’s most famous areas for wine production.
La Rosa Marbella is situated in the Guadalmina Commercial Centre in San Pedro de Alcantara, and offers guests a stylish wooden interior, with outside tables on the terrace. Classic Argentinian grilled dishes are offered, with plenty of Spanish influence, and only the best cuts of meat are served. Last time we went to this restaurants we tried a selection of:lamb chops, barbecued with fresh herbs, spinach tart with parmesan cheese and eggs, melted Provoleta Italian cheese, Beef Sweetbreads and Chicken filled with plums …. absolutely faultless. You will also find a great range of desserts, but we only had room for the ice cream. For more information: www.restaurantelarosa.com

Not strictly Argentinian, but a fabulous restaurant serving great Argentinian steaks and fondues is La Fondue in Elviria. Entrecóte, fillet steaks and succulent brochettes of Argentinian beef are cooked on the barbecue, and served with a range of fresh vegetables, sauces and potatoes. If you are a cheese lover, try the Raclette with pickles or the Cheese fondue with bread. The beauty of this restaurant is that if a group of you go for a night out, it suits carnivores and vegetarians, and fuses local cuisine with excellent Argentinian steaks and the finest Belgian and French cheeses. They also serve a delicious Escargot Bourguigone as a starter, and an excellent Irish coffee to polish it all off with.
